He holds a BA LLB from the University of Delhi and an MA in Political Science from the University of Hyderabad, and practiced as a lawyer at the Andhra Pradesh High Court before entering electoral politics.
He is married to Smt. Shailaja Ramaiyer, an IAS officer of the Telangana cadre. They have two children, a son and a daughter.
